Modern medicine has come to a logical deadlock.

Methods which have been used for treatment of many diseases and disorders worked themselves out. All these methods were developed 50-70 years ago – during a tremendous upgrowth of applied chemistry. And they got stuck at this level - application of accidentally found chemical combinations. Everything that was possible to “squeeze” out of this idea is already implemented. Now we can only amend and improve this approach.Within past decades medicine has undergone a transformation from a discipline intended to deliver medical care into a profitable business offering various kinds of medical treatment. As a consequence, each doctor should try to increase profitability of his institution (hospital, outpatient clinic, surgery) instead of raising efficiency of therapeutic intervention. Pharmaceuticals industry and production of medical instrumentation are tuned to it as well. Physicians, druggists, medical facility managers are not able to cut this everyday routine. Money talks - and quite handsome amounts are involved in this business! Ordinary taxpayers just spend more and more on health care each year without enjoying evident results.

Thus, more and more people become disappointed in moder health care system and are searching for comprehensible answers to questions about their health and ways to improve it.
Among those questions are:
- What disease do I have?
- When will I die?
- What should I take (amputate, break) to feel better during a longer time?
- How much should I pay to keep well?
- Where should I go to receive competent and reasonable treatment instead of just spending some money?

These questions lead patients to (and lead the doctors away from) the evidence based medicine.

One of the main components of such medicine are screening systems for detection of abnormal functional status and monitoring of therapeutic interventions. These methods allow making expert decisions about presence or absence of pathologic processes with a person and also evaluating efficiency of such intervention without having to use subjective human factor to analyze objective evidence of human functioning.

Group of authors from St. Petersburg, Russia, has created and produced “NEXT” Cardioanalyzer firmware.
This firmware analyzes heart rhythm variability enabling an expert opinion on presence or absence of the following pathologic processes with a patient:

• risk of oncological disease
• presence of an acute viral infection or aggravation of a chronic viral infection (for example, hepatitises, AIDS)
• opiates abuse
• breakout of body defenses (huge stress)

The firmware helps to determine the degree and direction of therapy influence on human body with such pathological processes. This implies evidence-based confirmation or rejection of diagnosis and choice of an adequate and efficient treatment of such pathosis.

“NEXT” Cardioanalyzer enables the following:

1. Detection of the above-mentioned pathosis during patient screening.
It can be used for:
• Predoctor examination and screening in primary health care facilities
• Periodical examination and detection of adverse health effects and environmentalhazards

Using this system in everyday medical practice can increase objectivity of diagnostics and treatment of various distresses. It will significantly decrease treatment costs and raise its efficiency,

Working principle of the “NEXT” Cardioanalyzer is analysis of functional status on the basis of cardiac pace analysis (heart rhythm variability). In contrast to existing methods which competently describe changes in intensity of electrical field generated by cardiac muscle, this firmware allows to evaluate changes in body regulation systems caused by various diseases using primary detected information of the biological system (human body). In other words, we are not making a film about what filming is – instead we are bringing to screen a great novel created by an author working under the name of “the Almighty”.

Non-invasive “NEXT” method can provide an objective evaluation of the patient’s conditions as opposed to speculating over artificially selected list of symptoms and markers usual for a disease. Standard approach adopted by the modern medicine is aimed at minimizing mental efforts of a particular doctor and increasing sales of “allowed” medications and treatments with a final goal to raise profitability of the business called “health care”. In contrast, personalized approach used in this method makes it possible to improve life quality of the patient.

For example, modern standard telling that the process starts when a first cancer cell appears is beneath criticism, which becomes clear if a doctor handles this issues every day. The process start with changes in homeostasis of the body. Evaluation of these changes becomes understandable and easy with methodology used in NEXT. Hence, it is clear how to find cancer markers and how to monitor different treatments.

Situation with identification and treatment of drug users is similar. Presence of opiates in the patient’s body not necessarily means he has drug dependency, while their absence does not mean a normal functional condition. However it is the current basis for diagnostics and expertise of drug users.

NEXT can detect decreased level of proper endorphins, which indicates stable changes in biochemical balance resulting in disease called “drug addiction”. Thus, any specialist providing diagnostics and treatment to such patients obtains a clear test for making decisions without using rhetorical arguments “She said that…”, “He thought that…”.

Application of this firmware opens the way for an unbiased evaluation not only of the patient’s condition, but also of efficiency of various treatments – classical as well as alternative, based on integral body analysis and not on “total mass of implanted tumor of peritoneal cavity of a mouse on the third day of spring at the Great Wall of China”.

“NEXT” equpment has gone through all certification tests in Russia, it has the full package of authorizations and approvals a s a medical equipment and measuring instrument.

This system is easy to operate and does not require highly qualified personnel to use it. The method is non-invasive. It uses standardized equipment with high repeatability of results.

Introduction of this firmware would make it possible to address both social tasks involving reduction of morbidity with “popular” diseases and individual tasks involving life quality improvement and reductions of spending for such improvement.
