Lecture: “Cupping Therapy”
Lecturer: Uz.Psik.Danış. Asuman Bolkan
Language: English / Turkish
Time:
Saturday 10.15 - 11.00 “Seminar room A”

About 250 to 300 years ago doctors used to treat their patients with methods of Traditional Medicine. With the developments that brought us to the current technological world these old methods were forced to give into the new ‘Modern’ Medicine. Even though the method of cupping therapy has usually been associated with China, it has also been long used throughout Asia, in some western countries, in Turkey and also in Cyprus. Glass cups which are placed over predetermined points of the body, usually on the back give a message like effect due to the absorbing effect of the cups. The cups are placed over the area that needs treatment and some of the air is drawn out from within the cup causing the blood to circulate faster which then results in treatment of the effected area. By doing this, correct and normal blood circulation will also result in lowering the excessive stress in that area.
